Flood victim count in Johor rises to over 3,000


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor has surged, with more than 3,000 people affected as of Sunday (Jan 12).

The Johor disaster management committee reported that the total number of flood victims in the state reached 3,449 as of 8am on Sunday (Jan 12), up from 2,524 just 12 hours earlier.

"As of 8am, there are 3,449 people from 1,023 families seeking shelter at 36 flood relief centres statewide," the committee stated.

Currently, Kota Tinggi records the highest number of flood victims, with 1,160 people from 368 families affected.

This is followed by Kulai with 748 evacuees, Johor Baru with 605, Kluang with 506, and Pontian with 430.
