Baby among six killed in three-vehicle pile-up on Semporna-Tawau road


KOTA KINABALU: Six people, including a baby, were killed after the car they were in was involved in a three-vehicle collision along Jalan Kelumpang in the east coast Semporna-Tawau road on Sunday (Jan 12) afternoon.

All six victims in the car were pronounced dead at the scene by the medical team, according to Semporna Fire and Rescue Station chief Madzlan Sarman.

He said the accident involving the car, a four-wheel drive and MPV occurred at about 4.40pm and they were alerted at 4.58pm.

“All six, including the baby and a young girl, inside the car died on the spot while a seventh person in the car suffered injuries,” he said, adding that case was being handled by police.

The other eight occupants in the four-wheel drive vehicle and MPV escaped with minor injuries.
