Nilai cops hunting for five suspects in machete attack at eatery


NILAI: Police are looking for five suspects who attacked a group of friends with machetes at a restaurant here.

Nilai OCPD Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said the four friends aged 44 to 59 were having a drink in the restaurant at around 10pm on Thursday (Jan 9) when they were attacked.

"We believe the five assailants are locals.

"We urge anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or the Nilai station at 06 790 2222 to assist in investigations," he said in a statement on Friday (Jan 10).

Supt Abdul Malik said the four victims were sent to Hospital Tuanku Jaáfar for treatment and were in stable condition.

He said police are still investigating the motive for the attack.

The case is being investigated under Sections 148 and 326 of the Penal Code for rioting and causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon respectively, he added.
