Suspected homemade bomb found in Bandar Sri Pinang


GEORGE TOWN: A suspected homemade bomb was found in near Karpal Singh Drive in Bandar Sri Pinang.

The discovery at about 9am on Thursday (Jan 9) prompted police to send a team and cordon off the area on Thursday.

The team, which included a remote-controlled robot, was dispatched to the scene between residential apartments after the threat was discovered.

As of 12pm, the team is still at the scene to investigate.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to launch the Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project nearby on Saturday (Jan 11).

Police are still investigating the case, and George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said a statement on the matter would be issued later.
