Na’aim calls for calm following video of men distributing Christian materials at Desa Setapak

PETALING JAYA: All parties must remain calm, said religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar, addressing a viral video of two Caucasian men distributing leaflets about Christianity in Desa Setapak.

He said the police are handling the matter, and all parties should trust the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.

“Regarding a viral video of several individuals attempting to spread Christianity in front of a supermarket in Desa Setapak, we urge all parties to respect and adhere to the Federal Constitution to maintain harmony in the country,” he said.

“Any party found to have committed acts that are contrary to the Federal Constitution and (other) laws must be brought to court,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 2).

In the video, a Malaysian who identified himself as a Muslim is seen confronting two Caucasian men for handing out leaflets promoting Christianity saying that what they were doing was wrong.

Many in the comment section said that the men belonged to a Christian sect, Mormons.
