Large 200kg croc caught in Melaka

PETALING JAYA: A large 200kg saltwater crocodile has been captured from a drain at the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) office in Kuala Linggi Jetty, Melaka.

Melaka Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director Petra Sulai said they received a complaint at about 7am on Wednesday (Dec 11) about the reptile trapped in the drain, which is believed to have come from Sungai Linggi, reported Sinar Harian.

Petra said Perhilitan officers rushed to the location, assisted by the Masjid Tanah Malaysian Civil Defence Force members.

"The male crocodile, weighing 200kg and 3.3m long, was successfully captured.

"The reptile was in stable condition and we will conduct further checks to ensure it did not suffer any injuries," he said.
