Perikatan Nasional must focus on GE victory before discussing MB posts, says Tuan Ibrahim

PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional must ensure victory in the general election before discussing matters of power distribution, including the selection of Mentri Besar, says Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

According to Sinar Harian, the PAS deputy president said that discussions on who should be prioritised in these matters would only take place after victory was achieved.

"The important thing is that we win first, then we can discuss," he said during a press conference after the Pahang state Legislative Assembly session at Wisma Sri Pahang on Monday (Dec 2).

On Friday (Nov 29), Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin reportedly said that his party was now targeting the Mentri Besar positions in Pahang, Perak and Selangor if Perikatan successfully seized those states in the upcoming GE.

Muhyiddin, who is also Perikatan chairman, was responding to questions about Bersatu's position alongside PAS, which currently leads the administration in four states, namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis.

Elaborating further, Tuan Ibrahim said that the party needed to strategise and focus on winning first, before detailing discussions on other matters.

"We need to strengthen the party. Future matters and individual views can be discussed, but these are not the official views of the party," he added.
