On top of the world: Johor scholar Laxmann bags Cambridge award with perfect score in Maths

JOHOR BARU: An Orang Muda Johor scholar here has made the state proud after earning a "Top in the World" award for his outstanding performance in the Cambridge A-Level examination.

M. Laxmann, 19, currently studying at Kolej Yayasan UEM, received the award from the Cambridge Assessment International Education Board after scoring a perfect 100% in Mathematics.

The former Sultan Abu Bakar College student also achieved outstanding results in other subjects, scoring 97% in Chemistry and 93% in Physics.

Also making the state proud were two other Orang Muda Johor Scholarship recipients, Muhammad Fauzi Syahmi and Lee Chong Ming, who recorded exceptional results in their A-Level examinations.

Muhammad Fauzi achieved AAAA, with scores of 91% in Mathematics, 90% in Chemistry, 86% in Economics, and 86% in Physics; while Lee secured A*AA, scoring 94% in Mathematics, 96% in Chemistry, and 96% in Physics.

Their achievements were shared by state education and information committee member Aznan Tamin in a Facebook post on Thursday (Nov 28) night.

“May their success inspire all Johoreans to continue chasing their dreams and boost Johor's name on the global stage.

“Congratulations to all scholarship recipients for your hard work and excellence. You are the pride of Johor,” the state executive councillor wrote.

The Orang Muda Johor Scholarship was established last year by the Yayasan Pelajaran Johor (YPJ) to support the brightest talents from Johor who excel in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) to pursue undergraduate studies at leading universities worldwide.
