‘Pastor’ charged with killing mum

KUALA LUMPUR: A 53-year-old man, who lived in a house with his mother’s body stored in a freezer over the past three years, has been charged with murder.

N. Deanesh, who claims to be a church pastor, is accused of murdering his 77-year-old mother, Catherine Daniel, at their home in Taman OUG.

He allegedly committed the offence between March 21 and March 26, 2021.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the death sentence or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, and a minimum of 12 strokes of the rotan, upon conviction.

Looking dishevelled, Deanesh, who was using a wheelchair, said he understood the charge.

“Faham (I understand),” he said here yesterday.

No plea was recorded as murder cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @Mohamad Saim fixed Feb 7 next year for mention.

Deanesh was brought to court earlier in the morning heavily guarded by the police.

With his hands cuffed, Deanesh, who was wearing a pair of dark green shorts and white T-shirt, kept his head down as he was ushered into the courtroom.
