Continuous rain warning extended to include whole of Kelantan, T'ganu


PETALING JAYA: The danger level of continuous rain warning has now been extended to include the whole of Kelantan and Terengganu in the latest weather advisory issued by the Meteorological Department.

In the advisory issued at 1pm on Wednesday (Nov 27), it said continuous torrential rain is now expected to occur over the states of Kelantan, Terengganu and parts of Pahang (Jerantut and Kuantan) until Friday (Nov 29).

An orange alert continuous heavy rain warning has also been issued for Perlis, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik and Baling), Perak (Hulu Perak), and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Maran, Pekan and Rompin).

Places seeing yellow alert of continuous rain are Penang, Kedah (Langkawi, Yan, Kuala Muda, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta and Kampar), Pahang (Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera), Johor (Segamat, Mersing and Kota Tinggi) and Sabah - Sandakan (Telupid, Beluran and Sandakan) and Kudat.

Meanwhile, the department has also issued warning for strong northeasterly winds over 60 km/h with waves exceeding 4.5m in the waters of Condore and northwestern part of Reef North until Saturday (Nov 30).

This condition of strong winds and rough seas is dangerous to all coastal and shipping activities including workers on oil platforms.
