Over RM3mil worth of drugs seized in Penang


GEORGE TOWN: A major drug bust in Penang saw seizures worth over RM3mil and the arrest of five men.

Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Khaw Kok Chin said the joint operation between Bukit Aman and the Penang NCID simultaneously raided three premises in Tanjung Bungah, Air Hitam and Jalan Yeoh Guan Seok on Nov 6.

"Other than the five suspects, aged 32 and 59, the raid yielded an assortment of drug processing paraphernalia and drugs such as ecstasy (13.9kg), syabu (6.02kg) and ketamine (4.9kg).

"Additionally, assets worth RM89,000, including two vehicles and a motorcycle, were confiscated under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988," he told reporters on Monday (Nov 11).

Comm Khaw added that the four of the suspects tested positive for drugs, and all of them have past criminal and drug records, they have since been remanded until Wednesday pending investigations.
