Armed Forces trailer overturns on KL-Karak Highway, heavy traffic reported

KUALA LUMPUR: An armoured vehicle transporter owned by the Malaysian Armed Forces overturned following an accident on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) Highway Thursday (Nov 7) afternoon.

Chief of Defence Force Gen Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman said that the transporter, which was carrying two Adnan armoured vehicles from a unit based in Mentakab, Pahang, was en route to Gemas, Negri Sembilan for training when the accident occurred at 4.48pm.

"The cause of the accident is still under investigation. However, no injuries to personnel or the public were reported. The trailer was damaged," he told Bernama.

The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) posted on Facebook that the accident happened at KM35.2 westbound from Genting Sempah to Gombak.

An LLM spokesman, when contacted, stated that both the westbound and eastbound right lanes were obstructed (crossbound) due to the accident.

"As of 8pm, there is traffic congestion of about 3km in the westbound right lane and a 1km in the eastbound right lane.

"This is due to ongoing cleanup and vehicle removal operations," the spokesman said. – Bernama
