Investigation paper on policemen detained for dead woman’s missing jewellery referred to AG’s chambers

KUALA LUMPUR: The investigation paper on four policemen detained over missing jewellery belonging to a woman who died in her car last month, has been referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers on Monday.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the police have completed the investigation on the case.

"The investigation paper was referred to the Bukit Aman CID Prosecution and Legal division (D5) before it was forwarded to the AGC.

"All four police personnel were remanded for three days until Saturday (Nov 2) before being released on police bail," he told a press conference after attending a talk on sexual crimes and online scams in Kepong on Tuesday (Nov 5).

Comm Rusdi said the police have recommended the suspects to be prosecuted.

"They are still on duty pending further action, including prosecution," he said.

It was reported that an internal investigation led to the arrest of four policemen after they had allegedly stolen jewellery.

Comm Rusdi had said that the complainant had lodged a report over the theft, with the case initially classified as a Police Inquiry Paper.

However, following several additional statements, the case was then reclassified as theft.

"Following investigations that were conducted, the police arrested four policemen within the Setapak area. The ranks of those arrested ranged from police constables to corporals, between the ages of 28 and 35 years old.

"A receipt and a yellow metal piece weighing 11.52g were seized during the arrests," he said.

Comm Rusdii added that all suspects had been remanded for three days, until Nov 2.
