Deputy Speaker warns MPs against disorder during heated debate on MACC probe

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor warned MPs to maintain order during sessions, stating, "I do not want any mess while I am presiding in the House."

He emphasised adherence to Standing Order 37(2) and declared he would remove anyone disrupting proceedings.

The warning followed an exchange initiated by Datuk Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang), who questioned the status of a MACC probe concerning funds found at a former Human Resources Minister's residence during the Supply Bill 2025 debate.

RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) challenged Awang to name the minister and repeat his claims outside the House if he was confident in them.

Rayer branded the allegations as "wild accusations" and requested Awang retract them, as they were unrelated to Budget 2025 and allegedly misleading.

Ramli then asked Awang for his data source.

Awang claimed DAP lawmakers reacted defensively when their leaders were criticised, saying, "They think DAP are pure as angels," prompting further reaction before microphones were muted.

Ramli reiterated the warning to maintain order.

Rayer urged Awang to retract his "DAP is no angel" remarks, noting parts of the debate contained constructive criticisms.

Ramli concluded that dissatisfied lawmakers should file a motion according to procedures for further action.

Awang's comments alluded to the MACC probe involving former Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar.

At a press conference later, Rayer said a motion would be filed against Anwang.

He also challenged Awang to make a report with MACC within 24 hours if believed he had enough evidence to back his claims.
