Four men arrested for alleged murder of man in Perak

IPOH: Four men have been arrested for the alleged murder of a 34-year-old man at a shared residence (rumah kongsi) in Bidor.

Tapah OCPD Supt Mohd Naim Asnawi said that two foreign workers were arrested on Monday (Oct 21), while two local men, believed to be the main suspects, were arrested on Tuesday (Oct 22).

He said that at around 4:21am on Monday (Oct 21), a 35-year-old woman lodged a police report.

"The woman, a clerk at a factory in Bidor, stated that at about 2:30am on Monday, she heard her husband arguing with one of the local suspects regarding the injuries and swelling on the face of her husband's brother.

"The suspect allegedly struck her husband's head with a hammer, causing injuries.

"The woman rushed her husband to Tapah Hospital. Upon returning home, she found her brother-in-law (the victim) lying outside the house, unresponsive and believed to be dead," he said.

Supt Mohd Naim added that the motive and cause of the murder are still under investigation.

"Police first arrested the two foreign workers staying at the shared residence on Monday, and the suspects have been remanded for seven days.

"Today (Tuesday), the two local men were arrested and they will be brought to the Tapah court for remand on Wednesday (Oct 23).

"The foreign workers have no prior criminal records, but the two local men have records for criminal and drug-related offences," he added.
