Jalan Istana Abdul Aziz to be closed in stages for Pahang royal wedding from Oct 24

KUANTAN: Jalan Istana Abdul Aziz here will be closed in stages and temporarily diverted in conjunction with the wedding ceremony of Pahang Prince Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah and his bride Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan.

Kuantan police chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the road is set to be temporarily closed on Oct 24, 25 and 27 starting at 5pm.

"The route is closed to public vehicles starting from the Bukit Istana U-turn intersection to Istana Abdulaziz traffic lights towards KotaSAS. The route is only open to VVIP/guest vehicles heading to the dropoff zone/parking lot.

"Vehicles from Kuantan heading towards KotaSAS will be diverted to the opposite route starting from the Bukit Istana U-turn intersection until Jalan Istana Abdulaziz traffic lights,” he said in a statement on Monday (Oct 21)

He said vehicles from KotaSAS heading to Kuantan will move as normal flow except for one lane that starts from the Istana Abdulaziz traffic lights up to the Bukit Istana U-turn intersection.

"Road users, especially residents around the Istana Abdulaziz area, are advised to follow the instructions from traffic wardens and the signage provided. Alternative routes such as via Bukit Goh road are highly encouraged,” he said.

The solemnisation of marriage ceremony of the royal bride and groom will take place this Thursday (Oct 24) at 8 pm and then continue with the Istiadat Berinai (application of henna ceremony) on Oct 25 and the royal wedding reception ceremony this Sunday (Oct 27) at Istana Abdulaziz at 8pm.- Bernama
