One-year-old girl injured in Ranau fire


KOTA KINABALU: A fire that razed a house in a Ranau village on Tuesday (Oct 15) injured a 60-year-old woman and a one-year-old girl.

Both victims were taken to hospital by civilians before the Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the location at Kampung Kantas Baru.

The department said a report was received at 12.17pm, about the fire that destroyed the house as well as a car and two motorcycles.

"A team from the Ranau fire station travelled 70km and upon reaching the location, found two victims with 5% burns on their feet who had been taken to the hospital by villagers.

"Water was pumped from a nearby lake to put out the fire.

"The team managed to bring the fire under control at 3pm and the operation was ended at 4.12pm," said the department spokesman.
