Teen discovers body of elderly man on walk home in Tawau

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a 71-year-old man was found floating at Sungai Kampung Iban Merotai in Tawau district on Friday (Oct 11).

The body was spotted by a 15-year-old boy who was walking home from playing football at the village field.

The Fire and Rescue Department used a rope and stretcher to carry the remains up to the ground level, before handing the body over to the police for further action.

“Around 4pm while crossing the bridge at the river there, the teenager saw the floating body near the riverbank.

“The body has been taken to the Tawau district hospital for autopsy and so far, there are no criminal elements suspected,” said Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin in a statement here.
