Malaysia to reach high-income status by 2027 if ringgit stays at 4.20 against US dollar


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia can become a high-income nation by 2027 if the ringgit's exchange rate stays at 4.20 against the US dollar, says the World Bank Group.

According to Bernama, the group's lead economist for Malaysia, Apurva Sanghi said that based on their assumption of the US dollar against the ringgit at the 4.54 level and with an average growth rate of 4.3 per cent, they expect Malaysia to reach the high-income nation status by 2028.
