Soldier accidentally killed by hunter in Sarawak, say cops


SIBU: Sarawak police are hunting a suspect for killing a soldier during a hunting expedition in the Song district here on Monday (Sept 23).

Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata said the victim Petrus Linggi Liman, 29, was training in a forested area near Batu 5, Jalan Balak Multiplus, Song, when the mishap occurred.

The victim, who was lying on a hammock during training in the forest, was injured in his left thigh and hip, Bernama reported.

Police received a report on the incident at 5.57am.

"The complainant said that the soldier was shot by a civilian who was hunting in the area," he said, adding that police have yet to identify the suspect.

The victim was rushed to Kapit Hospital and pronounced dead at 7.43am. The autopsy on the victim is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the same hospital

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
