GEORGE TOWN: Steven Sim Chee Keong is the new Penang DAP chairman.

The Bukit Mertajam MP replaces Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who has held the position since 1999.

Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh who secured first spot in the state DAP elections with 1,247 votes has been appointed as state party deputy chairman.

Sim, who is also Human Resource Minister, will serve for 2024-2027 term with the other 15 members who received the highest votes during the state DAP elections.

Sim came in second at the state party polls with 1,237 votes.

Zairil Khir Johari (fourth, with 1,166 votes) and former state exco member Datuk Yeoh Soon Hin (third, 1,225 votes) were appointed as the state party vice-chairman.

Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying, who was in 12th place with 827 votes, was appointed as the Penang DAP secretary while H'ng Mooi Lye is the Assistant Secretary.

The Treasurer post went to Teh Lai Heng, while the Assistant Treasurer will be held by Lay Hock Peng.



The Organising Secretary post will be held by Phee Boon Chee while the Assistant Organising Secretary post will be held by both Lee Wei Seang and Lim Siew Khim.



The state DAP Publicity Secretary post is now held by Joshua Woo Sze Zeng and the Assistant Publicity Secretary post by Datuk Soon Lip Chee.



Director of Political Education post will be held by Daniel Gooi Zi Sen.



The six Committee Members in state DAP are Datuk Seri S. Sundarajoo, RSN Rayer, Phee Syn Tze, Ooi Yong Woi, Teh Chuann Yien and Foo Yu Keong.

This is the current round-up of the Penang DAP state committee for the 2024 - 2027 term.



Earlier, a total of 1,452 voters cast their votes for 31 candidates who contested with 15 seats to fill at the Penang DAP Ordinary Convention held at Setia Spice Arena in Bayan Lepas here on Sunday (Sept 22).

Sim said he would hit the ground running with his work in the party when addressing the press.
