KUALA LUMPUR: The disbursement of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) Phase 3 payment to 8.5 million recipients will begin on Thursday (Aug 29).
“Existing beneficiaries will start receiving Phase 3 STR payments today. New beneficiaries and appeals will be paid starting Wednesday (Sep 18),” the Finance Ministry announced on X on Thursday.
Those approved to receive the payments will receive them via bank account crediting.
Previously, the Finance Ministry stated that payments to recipients who do not have bank accounts would given in cash through Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) in stages,
The public can check their eligibility for STR and find the frequently asked questions (FAQs) on the official STR portal at bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my.
The Finance Ministry also advised STR recipients to be cautious of unauthorised links by irresponsible parties seeking information about the STR programme. It said the ministry does not send SMS (short message service) or WhatsApp messages requesting personal information.
The post also noted that payments for STR Phase 4 would begin in November 2024, and announcements regarding the payments will be made periodically.
