PETALING JAYA: The 115 Statutory Declarations (SD) are no guarantee for the prime minister's post, Sabah Umno leader Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak tells Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Usukan assemblyman said the Perikatan Nasional chairman should instead verify it with the physical presence of the 115 MPs if he is convinced that they are authentic.

"Muhyiddin should not regard the 115 SDs as carte blanche to be the prime minister.

"Therefore, in matters of national importance, we cannot just take the said SDs at face value.

"It has to be verified by physical presence to confirm it is authentic, that the support is real, as well as the truth of the matter.

"Muhyiddin must now call upon those non-Perikatan Nasional MPs whom he claimed had signed the SDs to verbally make open declarations to confirm their support for Muhyiddin in the aftermath of the 15th General Election," said Salleh in a Facebook post Thursday (Aug 22).

He added that if Muhyiddin was convinced that the said SDs are actually authentic, he should have no fear calling the non-Perikatan MPs forward to physically make their support known to the public before National Day.

Earlier, documents related to Muhyiddin's speech during the recent Nenggiri by-election, including the supposed SDs from 114 MPs, were submitted to the police.

Muhyiddin revealed that he had handed over several key documents, including 114 SDs submitted to Istana Negara on Nov 21, 2022, an additional statutory declaration submitted the following day, and a letter from Kol (Rtd) Datuk Nazim Mohd Alim, the King’s senior private secretary, confirming receipt of these documents.

He said his speech simply addressed the 115 SDs from MPs expressing their support for him to be the prime minister post-election, and that not a single word in his speech insinuated any insult or criticised the decision made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at that time.
