Collab with high-tech manufacturing industry to provide high-income jobs for locals, says Johor MB

JOHOR BARU: Collaboration with the high-tech manufacturing industry is key to unlocking more high-income job opportunities for locals, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

The Mentri Besar made the observation following a recent visit to an appliance manufacturing company in Senai.

"I am impressed and pleased to be informed that 80% of the 1,444 skilled workers at the company are Malaysians, especially from Johor.

"I was also pleased to know that from 2022 to 2023, the company had employed a total of 70 new graduates with an average salary of RM4,000.

"High-tech manufacturing industry collaborations like this are key to unlocking more high-income job opportunities, especially for graduates from Johor," he said in a statement on Facebook.

He said the state government hopes to have more collaborations with such companies throughout the Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC).

He added that the implementation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is also expected to drive the state's economic growth.

"I hope that this economic benefit can be enjoyed by all Johoreans as well as Malaysians and can improve their socioeconomic status," he said.

Onn Hafiz had previously announced that the state government had mooted the setting up of JTDC to help create a highly skilled workforce to meet the demands of investors.

He said that having such a council would be key to ensuring the success of the JS-SEZ..
