Beluran child seeks reunion with mother who disappeared in 2017

KOTA KINABALU: Marlinah Abdullah was just a year old when she last saw her mother, who was only known as Roaini.

She had left Marlinah with a vegetable seller at No 4, Beluran town on Oct 19, 2017 at around 9am, along with a handphone number.

However, Roaini has never returned to claim her daughter and the number she left is uncontactable.

Hoping to be reunited, Marlinah’s caretakers Jalma @ Alus Awang Jalil and her husband Muhammad Ismail sought help from the Beluran Welfare Services Department’s Children’s Protection division to reach her mother.

Meanwhile, Beluran Welfare Department officer Asmad Nasir said in a statement that Jalma had lodged a police report on Oct 2, 2019 to help find the girl's mother.

“The girl is currently placed under the temporary care of Jalma and Muhammad until her birth mother is found,” said Asmad.

He urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of Roaini or the girl’s daily members to contact the department’s child protector Mohd Hafiz Ahmad at 016-5528340.
