CYBERJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for pioneering the First Multiplayer Metaverse Induction Programme, known as MetaHRise.

MBOR chief operating officer Jwan Heah presented the certificate of recognition to MCMC executive chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din during the appreciation ceremony held here on Tuesday (July 30).

Also present was MCMC deputy managing director Datuk Zulkarnain Mohd Yasin.

In a statement issued after the ceremony, the Commission said that MetaHRise, launched in February 2024, aims to transform traditional human resources practices by offering new hires an engaging and interactive start to their careers at MCMC.

It said MetaHRise offers a comprehensive introduction to the Commission's functions, regulatory activities and initiatives through an immersive onboarding experience.

"This innovative digital experience is set to transform the onboarding journey for new employees at the Commission," said MCMC.

Elaborating on MetaHRise, the Commission said it also features a virtual learning space called the Connect Hub, which is designed to improve access to education and training for MCMC employees.

"Additionally, the programme further enhances team building through gamification, featuring activities through its advanced features designed to test knowledge, foster teamwork, and boost employee engagement," the statement added.

Despite being launched only a few months ago, MCMC said MetaHRise has garnered significant momentum, leading to MCMC being named the Transformative Agency of the Year at the Innovation Awards Festival 2024 by GovInsider.

It said this accolade highlights MCMC's commitment to digital innovation and its ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency and employee engagement. – Bernama
