Animal lovers tie the knot in Zoo Negara

KUALA LUMPUR: While most couples dream of having a beach or garden wedding, television personality Siti Khadijah Jaafar and radio announcer Otto Md Tahir @ Othman chose to get married at Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman in Zoo Negara here on Sunday (July 27).

Their guests were treated to a sumptuous spread and had the opportunity to interact with various animals, including an albino python, rabbits, and various species of birds, that were placed in a mini zoo specially created for the event.

The bride and groom were escorted by a flock of storks serving as "flower girls” as they walked to the dais on the stage, accompanied by music.

Siti Khadijah described their zoo wedding as a memory she and her husband would cherish for a lifetime.

"We are both animal lovers, so when Zoo Negara offered us the opportunity to hold our wedding here, we did not hesitate to say ‘yes’," she told Bernama.

Siti Khadijah and Otto interacted with zoo visitors after the cake-cutting ceremony and fed the zoo animals, including the star of Zoo Negara, an orange cat named Oyen, which "resides” in the capybara enclosure.

Meanwhile, Zoo Negara deputy president Rosly @ Rahmat Ahmat Lana said they welcome anyone interested in holding their wedding ceremony at the zoo and hoped the event would inspire future brides and grooms.

"Indirectly, we can also promote Zoo Negara and increase the number of visitors here," he added. – Bernama
