K-drama star Lee Joon Gi in KL this September

KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean actor and singer Lee Joon Gi will make his Malaysian debut through a meet-and-greet session with his fans, 2024 Lee Joon Gi Asia Tour (Joongi’s Day: Festival) on Sept 22.

Lo-Fi Entertainment said in a statement on Friday (July 19), the three-hour session starting 6pm at Mega Star Arena here will surely create beautiful memories for the loyal fans of the K-drama star.

"Fans who previously only watched his acting through K-dramas and movies on the screen will now be able to see him in person.

"At the upcoming meeting, the audience will not only have the opportunity to interact with Lee Joon Gi but also watch the impressive performances of the popular star known for his dance moves and amazing vocals,” it added.

The fan meeting session is organised by Lo-Fi Entertainment and Hit Maker Entertainment with Sliding Doors Entertainment as the co-organiser.

Joon Gi began his career in the entertainment industry as a print and commercial model in 2001. He played minor K-drama roles and modelling before playing the role of Gong-Gil in the 2005 South Korean historical drama film, ‘The King and the Clown. ’ The film was both a critical and commercial success, which drove him to become an Asian star.

Joon-gi was cast in his first K-drama role in the 2005 South Korean television series ‘My Girl’. It became a hit in its run domestically and internationally, propelling him into Korean Wave stardom.

He is also dubbed as the ‘King of Sageuk’ or ‘King of Historical Dramas’ for often playing lead roles in many series such as ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,’ ‘Scholar Who Walks the Night,’ ‘Arang and the Magistrate,’ and ‘Iljimae.’

Joon Gi made his Hollywood debut through the film ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.’

Throughout his acting career, Joon Gi has won various awards including the South Korean Grand Bell Awards, SBS Drama Awards, KBS Drama Awards, and also internationally, including at the Hawaii International Film Festival and Shanghai International Film Festival.

"As a singer, Lee Joon Gi has produced several songs showcasing different styles. He is also skilled in martial arts and holds black belts in taekwondo, hapkido, and taekkyeon,” it added.
