Man apprehended after trying to snatch bag from Chinese national in Sepang


SEPANG: A 33-year-old man was detained after attempting to snatch a bag belonging to a female Chinese national at Southville City.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said a bystander recorded the incident at about 10.45am on Friday (June 21) and lodged a police report soon after.

"The suspect was on a motorcycle and attempted to snatch the bag of the victim.

"Upon investigation, we managed to identify and apprehend the suspect at Kampung Jenderam Hilir at about 4pm on the same day," he said in a statement on Saturday (June 22).

He said the suspect was jobless and had no prior criminal record.

"We also seized the motorcycle used by the suspect in the incident.

"We are investigating under Section 393 of the Penal Code," he said.

He also urged the public not to speculate on the matter or share fake news on social media.
