PETALING JAYA: PAS wants the notice to vacate the seats of Bersatu representatives who went rogue to be sent to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker as soon as possible, says PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (pic).
He also said that PAS would meet Bersatu on Tuesday (June 11) to get a full explanation from Bersatu on the revocation of the six Members of Parliament and one state assemblyman.
Tuan Ibrahim further stated that as a Perikatan Nasional component party, PAS supports the move to vacate the seats of the MPs and one Selangor state assemblyman who have publicly shifted their allegiance to the government of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over the past few months.
"PAS agrees fully that urgent action must be taken to send the official notification to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker to vacate the seats of the six MPs and one Selangor assemblyman who have shifted their allegiance to the other side.
"Perikatan components will be meeting tomorrow (June 11) to listen to the explanation from Bersatu on its decision on the issue and get further clarification.
"As a coalition, all decisions will be made together by the components during the Supreme Council meeting," said Tuan Ibrahim when contacted.
Bersatu Deputy President Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu confirmed that Bersatu leaders would attend the Perikatan meeting on Tuesday to explain the issue of the elected members who went rogue to fellow component parties.
"Yes, we will meet and finalise everything on Tuesday (June 11)," said Ahmad Faizal when asked when the notice will be sent to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker.
Last Friday (June 7), Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said that he had yet to receive any official notice regarding the seats of six Bersatu MPs who had their party membership revoked recently.
Johari said he also needed time to examine all aspects of the matter carefully, especially involving the anti-party hopping law, before making any decision.
The six MPs who went rogue since last year are Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman, Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) and Tanjong Karang MP Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi.
On March 6, Selat Klang state representative Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari of Bersatu also shifted his allegiance to the Unity Government.
Bersatu recently amended its party constitution to automatically nullify the membership of any of its elected representatives who shift their allegiance to rival parties.
