New hybrid orchid named after King

SHAH ALAM: The Housing and Local Government Ministry has named a new hybrid orchid species 'Aranda Ibrahim Iskandar' in honour of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

The hybrid orchid was presented to Sultan Ibrahim at the National Landscape Day (HLN) 2024 Opening Ceremony at Taman Tasik Shah Alam here on Saturday (May 25).

In his welcoming speech at the event, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said that the hybrid orchid has been registered with the International Registration Authority for Orchid Hybrids in England.

He said the flower, which is reddish-orange in colour, symbolises enthusiasm, bravery, decisiveness, optimism, and leadership, reflecting Sultan Ibrahim's personality and character in leading the nation.

HLN 2024, themed 'Industri Landskap Pemacu Pembangunan Madani' (Landscape Industry Driving Madani Development), which began yesterday and runs until June 2, serves as a platform for landscape industry enthusiasts to promote and market their products. - Bernama
