Unity Ministry gets into Malaysia Book of Records for 'kacang pool' eating session

JOHOR BARU: The National Unity Ministry has made it into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the most number of participants in a 'kacang pool' eating session with the involvement of some 2,400 people.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Aaron Ago Dagang said this was the second time the ministry made it into the MBOR through its National Unity Week celebration.

"Last year, we broke the Malaysia Book of Records for having the most number of participants wearing ethnic attire during the Unity Week celebration in Kuching, Sarawak.

"This year, we are breaking the record for the most number of people eating 'kacang pool' during unity week here.

"Food unites us and 'kacang pool' is a dish that could also be found in other states, that is why we decided to go with this," he said, adding that this was the first time the Nation Unity Week was held in the peninsula.

‘Kacang pool’ is an Arab-inspired dish.

He added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to officiate the unity week celebration here on Saturday (May 25) night.

"We expect to see some 200,000 attending the four-day event here," he said in a press conference on Friday (May 24), the second day of the event.

The ministry had earlier expected to break the record with the participation of 1,500 people.

However, they later managed to gather 2,400 people, which is 900 more than their initial target.
