Pickup truck runs over female biker in Kulai


KULAI: A 35-year-old woman was injured after she was run over by a pickup truck at Jalan Lebih Putra Utama, here

Kulai OCPD Supt Tan Seng Lee said the incident occurred at 2.40am on Saturday (April 27) after the truck went in the opposite direction.

“The initial investigation revealed that the accident occurred when the truck driven by a 32-year-old man was heading towards Bandar Putra from Indahpura.

“The driver suddenly lost control of his vehicle and went into the opposite lane and crashed into an incoming motorcycle,” he said in a statement here on Monday (April 29).

Supt Tan added that the crash caused the female motorcycle rider to suffer injuries to her body and legs.

“The woman is currently being treated at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), while the driver was unharmed.

“The man tested negative for drugs, and a breathalyser test showed that he is free from alcohol consumption,” he said.

Supt Tan added that those with information on the incident are encouraged to share information with the Kulai District police to help with the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
