Reports on corruption can be made round the clock

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has established a 24-hour operations room for the public to report corruption issues during the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

According to a statement from the MACC, the operations room will be operational round the clock throughout the campaigning period until polling day on May 11.

“All candidates and political parties who are contesting or involved in the by-election should not engage in activities that could violate election laws and regulations, in accordance with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and the Election Offences Act 1954,” it added.

The operations room is located at the Selangor MACC in Shah Alam.

The commission added that the public can submit any reports of corruption or abuse of power via email to prk2024_sel@sprm.gov.my or by contacting the MACC at 03-5524 8318 or 03-5525 6500.

A four-cornered fight between Pakatan Harapan’s Pang Sock Tao, Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut, Hafizah Zainuddin from Parti Rakyat Malaysia and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin is set for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

This is the seventh by-election to be held following the 15th General Election in 2022, with six other by-elections held last year.
