Man nabbed for drunk driving and causing accidents in Johor

PASIR GUDANG: A 53-year-old man was arrested for drunk driving after crashing his car into five other vehicles at Jalan Bayan, Taman Megah Ria, here.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the incident occurred last Wednesday (April 24) at 9pm after the driver accidentally crashed into the fence of a convenience store.

“The driver had also crashed into a fried chicken stall, where two women were hurt. The victim suffered injuries to their face and hands.

“He then proceeded to reverse his car and crash into five other vehicles parked at the roadside,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (April 27).

The suspect was arrested shortly after, and the breathalyser test showed that the man had consumed alcohol beyond the allowed limit, he added.

“A total of four police reports have been lodged over the incident, and the man is currently under arrest to help with the investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 44 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for drunk driving and causing injury,” he said.
