JERTIH: A delivery rider died after his motorcycle skidded off the road and fell into an irrigation canal in Kampung Gerai here on Monday (April 23) night.
Besut district police chief Supt Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the accident ocurred at 8pm abd the victim, Wan Muhammad Khuzaimie Abu Sepian, 24, died at the scene.
"Preliminary investigations that while the victim was heading from Kampung Layout Gerai to his family's home in Kampung Gerai Tua, he lost control of his motorcycle and skidding to the right side of the road then landed into the irrigation canal.
"The victim was then swept away by the currents for a kilometre," he said when contacted by Bernama.
He said the victim's body was sent to the Besut Hospital's forensics unit for an autopsy, while the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama
