Cops nab man for allegedly raping underage girl during 'job interview'

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man after he allegedly raped an underage girl who had been promised employment beforehand.

Ampang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Nazruel Ekram Abu Saare, in a statement on Saturday, said that the 17-year-old victim told the police that the incident occurred at around 2am on April 9.

"The victim was forced into a hotel by the suspect and she was allegedly raped. The rape occurred twice at the same hotel.

"It is believed that the victim had been promised a job by the suspect and was invited to meet with her 'employer'. But she was then raped," he said.

Investigations into the case led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man, who is a business owner. The suspect was arrested on April 17 at his house in Ulu Langat.

"He tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. He has been remanded for six days until April 23," he said.
