MoU on allocations to Opposition to be drafted soon, says Fadillah

PETALING JAYA: A Memorandum of Understanding will be drafted following the government's agreement to consider channelling allocations to Opposition members, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Fadillah said a meeting of the unity government's leadership council in Seri Perdana in Putrajaya on Wednesday (April 17) had in principle agreed to consider channelling allocations of Opposition MPs.

"A MoU will first be drafted and forwarded to the Opposition in the next step of our negotiations. This matter was agreed to during the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim lasting more than an hour," he said in a statement on Thursday (April 18)

The meeting was also attended by leaders of the other component parties in the unity government.

Previously, Fadillah, who has been tasked with negotiating with the Opposition on its demands for constituency funds, said the decision to meet yesterday followed his meeting with Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin in Parliament on March 19.
