Sarawak Christian community wishes Selamat Hari Raya to all Muslims in Malaysia

KUCHING: Sarawak's Christian community has extended Hari Raya greetings to Muslims in Malaysia who will be celebrating Aidilfitri.

Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) chairman Datuk Danald Jute said the greetings were offered in the spirit of the Malaysian tradition of unity, respect and forgiveness as well as gratitude for the blessings enjoyed by the nation.

"May the spirit of Hari Raya, the exchanges of many wonderful wishes and the sharing of reunions of families, colleagues, friends and neighbours during open houses spread the joy and blessings of this festive season," he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 9).

Danald also called on Malaysians not to be divided by differences, but to work and pray together for a better Malaysia.

He urged Malaysians to continue to respect each other's differences and treat one another with trust and kindness rather than suspicion.

"Distrust and suspicion will destroy our laughter and friendships and ultimately our unity.

"We all know how important it is for us to live together in peace.

"For the sake of a better Malaysia, let us say together Maaf Zahir dan Batin," he said.
