Homeless woman found dead behind shoplots in JB


JOHOR BARU: Police have received a sudden death report involving a 67-year-old homeless woman at Jalan Serampang, here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said that police received a report regarding the incident at 2.40pm on Monday (April 1) from the public who found an unconscious woman behind the shoplots in the area.

“Investigation revealed that the victim, identified as Tan Siew Liang, 67, was found fully clothed. She was later pronounced dead by the medical officer from Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA).

“There were no signs of criminal intent on the victim’s body, and there were no signs of struggle at the location where the body was found,” he said in a statement.

ACP Raub added that the victim is believed to have been staying at the location for the past five days, and the body has been sent to HSA for a postmortem.

“We are currently on the lookout for her next of kin; those with information are encouraged to come to any nearest police station,” he added.
