KAJANG: Drugs worth over RM14.5mil were seized in a series of raids by the police on Tuesday (March 19).

Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said two men aged 33 and 44,were also detained during the operation.

"Those detained were the transporters and store keepers. They are paid between RM2,000 and RM3,000 for each job.

"We seized 332.443kg of syabu, 6.07kg of MDMA powder, 8.1kg of Erimin 5 pills and 15.7kg of ecstasy pills worth RM14.5mil," he told a press conference at the Kajang police headquarters on Thursday (March 21).

He added that a vehicle was also seized in the raids.

Comm Khaw also said that several locations were raided, including a luxury condominium where the drugs were stored.

He added that the investigation revealed that the syndicate caters to the local market as well as overseas.

"We believe they send the drugs to neighbouring countries via courier. They have been operating since mid last year," he said.

Comm Khaw added that the drugs seized could have been supplied to 1.8mil users.

The suspects detained have been remanded until March 25, Comm Khaw said.

"One of the suspects has a criminal record. We believe the mastermind and other bigger players in the syndicate are still at large. We will hunt them down," he said.

Comm Khaw said the NCID will conduct such operations targeting drug syndicates continuously

"We cherish the cooperation of the public in the war on drugs. We urge those with information to contact the NCID hotline at 012-2087222," he added
