Broga Hill fire fully extinguished early March 18 morning


KAJANG:The forest fire at Broga Hill which began late Sunday evening was fully extinguished early Monday (March 18) morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said the fire-fighting operation was concluded at about 3.30am after the fire was fully extinguished at 2.30am.

"A total of 28 officers and personnel from three fire stations were involved in the operation.

"The fire was at a 2ha-area at the peak of Broga Hill before spreading to other parts of the hill due to wind," he said in a statement on Monday. (March 18)

Wan Md Razali said firemen had to climb to the top of the hill as the area was not accessible to vehicles.

"The climb took about 45 minutes.

"We used the fire beater method to put out the fire as there was no source of water.

"Our focus was to prevent the fire from spreading further as well as fully extinguishing the fire," he said.

Hulu Langat MP Sany Hamzan was also at the scene to observe the fire fighting operation.

The distress call on the fire was made at 7.39pm before a team of firemen were deployed to the scene.

Earlier, videos of the fire at Broga Hill went viral on social media.
