Man killed after losing control of lorry at Kampung Semaseh


MUAR: A 35-year-old lorry driver was killed after losing control of his vehicle at Jalan Panchor, near Kampung Semaseh, here.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the police received a report of the incident from the public at noon on Tuesday (March 12).

“The Investigation revealed that the victim was heading towards Bukit Pasir from Bukit Gambir when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the left side of the road.

“The accident caused the victim to suffer a serious injury. He was pronounced dead while on the way to the hospital,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (March 13).

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, ACP Raiz said that an 18-year-old was killed after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a trailer lorry at KM132.8 of the North-South Expressway (NSE).

The incident occurred at 5.50 pm on Tuesday. The lorry, which was heading towards Jasin, Melaka, from Johor Baru, stopped in the emergency lane after its engine failed.

“The 36-year-old driver had placed a cone behind his vehicle before a motorcycle suddenly crashed into the back of the lorry.

“The impact caused the victim to suffer a serious injury to the head and was pronounced dead at the location,” he said.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
