Over 132,000 companies have registered with CIDB, says Ewon


KUALA PERLIS: A total of 132,579 companies have registered with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) as of January, says Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.

He said of the figure, 75,758 have been awarded the Bumiputera Status Certificate (STB).

"This indicates significant Bumiputera involvement, and I believe Bumiputera economic issues, including involving contractors, will be addressed during the Bumiputera Economic Congress next week from Feb 29 to March 2," he said.

He told reporters this after a dinner event with the Perlis Malaysian Bumiputera Contractors Association (PKBM) members here on Friday (Feb 24).

He said that the ministry is ready to implement resolutions adopted at the congress, which will be presented to the Cabinet, adding that it is committed to empowering the Bumiputera economy.

Meanwhile, he said Perlis PKBM received RM50,000 from his special allocations as a minister to implement its activities, including funding CIDB courses to enhance the members' capacity. - Bernama
