JB cops nab 12 foreigners for suspected prostitution


JOHOR BARU: Twelve foreign women have been arrested for alleged prostitution at a nightspot in Taman Century here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said an operation codenamed Ops Noda was conducted at the premises at around 11.20pm on Friday (Feb 2).

He said 12 women, aged from 19 to 33, were arrested on suspicion of providing sex services.

A 37-year-old local man was also detained, he added.

ACP Raub said four mobile phones, a tube of lubricant, four condoms and RM5,220 in cash was also confiscated during the raid.

The case is being investigated under Section 372B and Section 373 of the Penal Code for prostitution and using a premises for immoral activity respectively.

It is also being investigated under Section 55B of the Immigration Act for hiring foreign workers without a permit and Section 39(B) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for violation of visit passes.
