Teen sent to hospital after father beat her with chairs and ironing board

REMBAU: The father of a teenage girl was arrested for allegedly beating her with chairs and an ironing board, leading to a dozen stitches.

The victim, aged 17, was attacked by her father in Kampung Kendong Baru, with a report of the attack lodged on Wednesday (Jan 24).

Rembau OCPD Dept Supt Hazri Mohamad, in a statement, said that the victim was sent to the Tampin hospital for treatment.

"The victim was kicked by the suspect in the stomach, and she also suffered cuts to the face, leading to 12 stitches. She also suffered injuries to the hand and right shoulder," he said.

The suspect was also arrested on the same day, with checks showing that he had seven previous criminal records, including drug offences.

"The suspect has been caught and brought to the Rembau police headquarters for further investigations," he said. It is believed that the suspect was drunk during the attack.

The police will request for a four-day remand on the suspect.

The attack was also recorded by the suspect's girlfriend but she has since left the scene when the police arrived.

"Efforts to trace down the items used during the attack and witnesses who are able to assist the investigations are underway," he said.

A video of the attack has been uploaded on social media.

The video showed the suspect beating a young girl with various items, including a chair and a clothes basket.
