Six houses destroyed in Penampang blaze, workshop razed in Sandakan

KOTA KINABALU: Six houses at a village along Jalan Penampang-Tambunan were completely destroyed during a blaze on Friday (Jan 19).

However, no casualties were reported.

The Fire and Rescue Department received a report at 5.30pm about the incident at Kampung Timpoluon Babagon and a team from the Penampang and Kota Kinabalu fire stations were sent to the location.

"The fire was brought under control at 7.24pm," said a department spokesman.

Meanwhile in a separate case in the Sandakan district, a fire broke out at a motorcycle workshop located in the town centre.

The department received an alert at 6pm at the premises located along Jalan Old Slipway.

"The workshop was 85% destroyed and eight motorcycles were also completely burnt.

"No casualties were was reported. The fire was brought under control at 6.18pm and the operation ended at 7.15pm," the spokesman added.
