50-year-old rubber tapper dies after car crashes into motorcycle in Jempol


JEMPOL: A 50-year-old rubber tapper was killed after a car rammed into his motorcycle along Jalan Besar Pasoh 3 here.

District police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook said the car driven by a 22-year-old man crashed into the victim's bike after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

"The driver was heading towards Air Hitam at around 8.25am Tuesday (Jan 16) when the crash happened.

"The right rear tyre of the car apparently exploded, causing the driver to lose control and enter the opposite lane," he said in a statement.

The victim died while receiving treatment at the Jempol Hospital. The driver escaped injury.

Supt Hoo said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He urged eyewitnesses to contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Amirul Syafiq Mohd Yusof at 016-234 8669 to assist in investigations.
