Missing man found dead in drain in Sandakan

KOTA KINABALU: A man who had not returned home for three days was eventually found dead in a drain in Sandakan district.

Sandakan OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Fuad Malek said the body of the 33-year-old was discovered by passers-by at around 4.30pm on Saturday (Jan 13).

He said policemen had rushed to the scene near SK Mawar Sandakan, and had retrieved the body with the assistance of other enforcement officers.

“We found that this man was reported missing on Jan 12, where the mother told police that he had not returned home since leaving the house on Jan 11,” he said in a statement.

ACP Fuad said the body was taken to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for a post-mortem.

“There are no elements of foul play in this case so far,” he said.

Investigations to the cause of death are being conducted, he added.
