Cops vow to continue probe into Zayn Rayyan murder

SHAH ALAM: Despite the forensics department having exhausted all avenues in its probe on the murder of autistic child Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, Bukit Aman has vowed to press on with the investigation.

“Just like the general public, my officers are affected emotionally by the case. But they are very motivated.

“Even today, they are still in the field, trying to process everything under the leadership of the Selangor police chief,” said Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Suhaily Mohd Zain.

He maintained that Bukit Aman was pressing ahead with their efforts to pursue justice for the boy and his family.

He said the police were now triangulating all the findings of the investigation in order to find the next clue.

“As far as the forensics department is concerned, we have exhausted all alternatives,” he said.

Zayn Rayyan, six, was initially reported missing on Dec 5, 2023. His body was later found the following night in a river near his home at Idaman Apartment in Petaling Jaya.

So far, police have recorded the statements from 225 people and collected 248 DNA samples from residents and other individuals.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, Comm Mohd Suhaily expressed his appreciation to the community for providing their input.

“We also evaluated this information as it gave us some public perspective that we think is worth looking into,” he said.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said on Tuesday that police had yet to uncover the motive for the murder.
